About Jerome Freedman, Ph. D. and MICAH

Professional Resume: HTML or PDF

MICro Applications & Hardware (MICAH) was established in Sausalito, CA in 1979. We were the first company to develop CP/M (the precursor to MS-DOS) for the Cromemco line of Z80 computers and customize hard disk device drivers for them. We also developed the CP/M Expander so that system calls made by Microsoft compilers and Cromemco software could be intercepted and executed, giving the impression that they were running under CDOS (Cromemco Disk Operating System).

At about the same time, we customized and sold the Osborn accounting packages. We implemented GL, AR, AP and Payroll packages. To complement these packages, we developed MicroPlot, a plotting package for the generic printers of the day.

In 1981, we formed Select Information Systems and created the Select Word Processor. The company went public in 1983.

After leaving Select, we created cForm - a forms-oriented application development environment built on top of cTree, an ISAM database system we had used since 1979. cForm is very similar in concept to the current form tags in html, with the added advantage of automatically creating a database table to implement to the underlying structure of the form. cForm was used for a variety of custom application for our customers, and was almost incorporated into MicroPro and Symantec, but both deals fell through.

Since then, we have worked at Sybase, Oracle, TRW Financial Systems, Network General/Network Associates, WildPackets, NetPredict, and other companies. A full professional resume is available here.
